The Galloway Hoard Vessel

Our latest replica, the unwrapped Galloway Hoard Vessel, as it might have looked 1,200 years ago. A combined CT & photogrammetry model, 3D printed, then electro encapsulated in silver, with hand painted gold & niello decorations. The decorations show fire temples, leopards, and tigers. The original was likely Sogdian (near modern day Iran) and would have travelled 1000's of miles along the silk road. It ended up buried, full of treasure, in a remote churchyard in Galloway, Scotland. Made for National Museum Scotland but soon on its way to Melbourne, Australia.
